Homemade pumpkin spice lip scrub

I struggle with dry and chapped lips all year round, but it get’s particularly bad during fall and winter, so I try to exfoliate and treat my lips a couple of times a week to keep them from getting too chapped and dry. It is a bit of an uphill battle sometimes, but I have found that a good lip scrub and my favorite lip balm and gloss helps a great deal. I always make my own lip scrubs and this one with pumpkin spice is my newest creation, it is based on the recipe for my favorite lip scrub, but with a little fall/winter twist.

The scrub is made with base of coconut sugar that works as an exfoliator, the sugar is mixed with honey that has natural healing properties and works great for healing chapped lips and the oils provides moisture and nourishment. The pumpkin spice mix adds a lovely warm fall/winter scent and it tastes absolutely amazing as well ;)

The scrub makes a great homemade gift as well, I like to give little homemade gifts along with the store-bought ones – the most precious thing you can give is your time, so I really think it shows that you care for people when you have spent time making them a gift from scratch. 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil – optional

Directions:

Simply add everything to a bowl and mix well – start with 2 tablespoons honey and slowly add more until you reach your preferred texture.

I like for the scrub to be quite thin, so I can use it as a lip mask as well as a scrub, but if you want a more traditional lip scrub texture, then only add 2 tablespoons honey.

The lip scrub should keep 2-3 weeks in an airtight jar. To make sure it stays somewhat bacteria free I prefer to use a little wooden spatula instead of my fingers to get the product out of the jar.

Apply the scrub to your lips and gently exfoliate for 30 seconds to a minute, then leave the scrub on for a minute or two as a mask to nourish and moisturize. Enjoy ♥
