I have been wanting to pay Acacia a visit ever since I first hear about the place, but it was not until I started seeing it repeatedly over on Cathrine’s blog and social media that I just knew I had to give the place a try as soon as possible.

Last week I finally got a chance to visit Acacia and I was so impressed that I just have to write a little review and recommendation for you guys. Let me start with just quickly introducing Acacia, it is a vegan and gluten-free cafe located in Frederiksberg. From what I understand the place is run by a mother daughter duo, where the daughter handles the kitchen and the mother is out front and takes orders, makes the drinks etc. and let me just say start by saying that they both absolutely excel at what they do!

Acacia has such an amazing and heartwarming atmosphere, you can feel that it is a family business and I absolutely loved the kind and wonderful service. As some of you know I suffer from social anxiety and going out to eat can sometimes be a bit hard for me (even though it is also one of my favorite things to do), but I immediately felt at ease and I loved how unpretentious, sweet and down to earth the service was.

I also really liked the decor and ambience of the place, it is very minimalistic and Scandinavian, but it still feels cosy and welcoming – the two cute and well behaved dogs that were chilling in the corner were definitely a big plus as we’ll ♥

Now for the most important part – the food! I already mentioned that everthing is vegan and gluten-free, but I don’t want that to scare anyone off. I truly think everyone would enjoy this little gem of a cafe – both those that follow a vegan and gluten-free diet, but also those who doesn’t (like myself). I say this because I know many people have an idea of vegan food being bland healthy/hippie bunny food, but this is far from the truth and I love that there is such a gem of a place to show just how good vegan meals can really taste – honestly I wouldn’t have know that everything was vegan and gluten-free if I hadn’t read about it beforehand.

There were so many things that I wanted to try on their menu, but I went with their waffles with a cinnamon/cardamom green banana flour dough, toasted oatmeal granola, anisse hyssop infused apple puree, coconut yogurt, baked spiced apple shards, toasted almond ice cream and raw coconut nectar – and  yes it tasted just as amazing as it sounds! It was so delicious and full of different flavors, I love how it was sweet without being too sweet + the added crunch from the granola was just perfection! ♥

My friend tried the risotto, which I sadly cannot find much info on, but I got to steal a bite and it was absolutely amazing as well. It was so creamy, warming and full of flavour, the perfect meal in this cold and gloomy Danish weather!

They also had the most delicious looking raw vegan desserts that I will have to try next time I visit and I think I will pair it with one of their beyond delicious sounding cups of hot chocolate, which is, again, just perfect in this cold weather.

As you have probably figured out by now I can definitely recommend the place, it has been a long time since I have been this excited about trying a new place and I cannot wait to go back and try more from their menu.

Acacia is located at Gammel Kongevej 171, 1850 Frederiksberg – go spoil yourself a little and give their waffles a try ♥
